I think it was the 191 S.

From Boulder, Colorado we took the I-70 W to enter Utah for about 319 miles, and then took exit 182 for US-191 S toward Crescent Jct/Moab
and followed it through to Arizona.

Hope this helps! If you go to Google Maps and enter Boulder, Colorado to Grand Canyon, AZ (South rim entrance), you can find the exact route we took!

Hey Kim,

Do you know exactly where in Utah that arch (under Day 5) is located? The more you can remember the better, but even the route will help me find it. I took a photo of the exact same arch on a 5-week cross country road trip back in '96, but that was a long time ago...

Fabulous images. For the first time ever I have read a blog post, picked up a pen and paper and made notes. That might sound odd so I'll quickly explain - my sister in law is Chinese (and my 18 month old niece is half-Chinese) so Chinese culture is something my family have a keen interest in now. So I'm noting down how to say happy new year correctly - for next year, I'm a little late this year.

My bother is a tiger and apparently he will be wearing red socks for a whole year. That's something I need to look into further! Small world isn't it? Who would have thought we would have that connection. My brother worked in Beijing for three years and that's where they met. They celebrated Chinese New year in Manchester this year where there is a thriving Chinese community. Anyway, I'm waffling slightly now!

You are doing the New York Marathon? Are you complete out of your mind?!! I joke. You are braver than me and probably much fitter. I can't even run down the street without needing to sit down a recover for half an hour. Good luck with the training. My brother completed it in a ridculous short time just after 9/11. He said the atmosphere was amazing and supports were thrilled he had flown over to take part. he raised a ton of money for charity in the process. So actually, maybe you are not crazy to be doing this!

It was such a shame I couldn't make it. The weather in the Midlands was hazardous. I enjoyed watched it via the live streaming though, and yes, I did hear the fire alarm go off and the look of panic on everyone's faces! It all looked great fun. I was in Amsterdam a few years back when they had the parade through the city with all the Black Peters. Every single person in the parade was white, with black make-up. Likewise the entire crowd was white European.

I'm not sure that it's intentionally racist, it's a historical tradition. But black Dutch people sure as hell don't go anywhere near it!
